‘Way too soon!’ Starbucks and Dunkin leave customers outraged as they reveal their Pumpkin Spice Lattes will be back before the end of AUGUST in the earliest ever release of the drink

・Starbucks is reportedly releasing its signature fall drink on August 27

・Dunkin’ Donuts is beating the store to the punch by releasing its own pumpkin-inspired drink on August 21 to participating locations

・People online had mixed reviews about the early release of the drinks

・There were some who thought it was way too early for the fall-themed beverage

・But other people were ready to journey to a Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donut for the flavored beverage ahead of fall weather

signature (adjective)

例文:

The restaurant’s signature dish is seafood paella.

Every chef has a signature dish which is their own creation and encapsulates their restaurant’s philosophy.

A signature champagne cocktail was created for the event.

beat someone to the punch (phrasal verb)

Macmillan Dictionary によると ” to manage to do something before someone else does it という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

Hackers beat Apple to the punch and launched backchannel app stores prior to Apple itself.

I wanted to have the new car, but Sally beat me to the punch.

Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts want people to pull out their sweaters and leggings because both companies are launching their pumpkin spice lattes by the end of August, making it the earliest fall launch to date.

The iconic pumpkin spice latte is anticipated to hit Starbucks stores across the US by August 27, according to Business Insider.

Dunkin’ Donuts is releasing its own version of the pumpkin spice latte, in the form of a Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin latte, on August 21 — leaving some fans wondering why both companies are pushing for fall so early.

push for (phrasal verb)

Macmillan Dictionary によると ” to try hard to get or achieve something という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

They continue to push for more pay.

We are pushing for a ban on nuclear testing.

The unions are pushing for job security even if it means settling for modest wage increases.

People online were asked if they were happy about the release of the two fall-inspired drinks by the end of August, and most thought it was too soon.

‘Too soon…let’s get a chill in the air first before dropping some PSL,’ one person wrote as most cities are still experiencing summer heat.

PSLは、Pumpkin Spiced Latteのことです。

Another person had a different recommendation on the date, writing: ‘WAY too early. October 1st is when it should start. Definitely after Labor Day.’

According to Business Insider, this is the earliest the latte has launched for Starbucks.

The drink will often appear on the Starbucks menu right around Labor Day, and it officially launched last year on August 28.

Starbucks has yet to officially confirm the launch date of the coveted fall drink, but employees have shared on social media the arrival of Pumpkin Spice syrup to their stores.

One person joked that pushing ahead the PSL season will only inspire other restaurants to push up their own signature items.

push up (phrasal verb)

Macmillan Dictionary によると ” to make something higher in level or amount: という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

The increase in the price of raw materials has pushed up our costs.

the Shamrock Shake(シャムロック・シェイク)は、アメリカやカナダなどのマクドナルドで聖パトリックの日にちなんで毎年3月に発売されるシェイクのことです。

The arrival of PSL season early inspired some people to joke about how it relates to climate change.

‘If climate change isn’t real how come PSL season comes earlier every year,’ one person hilariously wrote.

This encouraged another Twitter user to call it ‘Basic Science’ behind the reasoning PSL season keeps getting moved up.

Although there were specific consumers who were not pleased by the early release date, other fans were excited to purchase the beverage this month.

‘I’ve already changed my Bitmoji outfit for autumn, pass me the pumpkin spiced lattes,’ one consumer wrote.

Bitomojiは、自分オリジナルのアバター絵文字が簡単に作れるアプリのことです。

Another customer was in agreement because PSL season meant colder weather was (potentially) coming soon.

‘You know, I’m really not the girl to talk about fall and how excited I am for leggings and pumpkin spiced everything. But with the heat index getting up to 108 today, I can confidently say I am beyond ready for colder weather,’ the woman wrote.

the heat indexは熱指数(Heat Index) のことです。熱指数とは温度と相対湿度を用い、気温が実際にどのくらい暑く感じられるかを決める体感温度です。

People only have to wait a few more weeks before they can officially sip on their pumpkin spice lattes, but it might be better to leave the sweater at home for the first cup of the season.
