英字新聞を読むには各単語の形式を知ることが大事！
英語を勉強し始めたばかりの段階だと、教材と違って英字新聞を読むのはかなり難しいと思います。それぞれの新聞が独自の書き方をもっていたりもするので。なので、僕が補足をつけながら、英字新聞を読むのお手伝いしようと思います。教材の文法には慣れたけど英字新聞はまだ苦手という、初級ー中級あたりの人用の解説です。
何回も言いますが、新聞を読むためには各々の単語が名詞（noun）なのか、形容詞（adjective）なのか、副詞（adverb）なのかがめちゃくちゃ大事になってきます！文法はほんっっっっっっとうに大事です！！！一緒に一つずつやっていきましょう！僕の勉強がわりにもなっているので、僕が知っていることは飛ばしていたりします。なので、何かわからないことがあれば気軽にコメントください。できるだけ答えます！よろしくお願いします 😉

This proud ‘pole-dancing rat’ certainly wasn’t shy as it slid its way down Subway handrails that many New Yorkers touch every day.
The shocking sight of the rodent climbing the metal bars has attracted over 10,000 views so far on social media page Subway Creatures.
The footage by Sebastian, known on Instagram as @seebaass_, was shot on a New York Subway F Train.
rogue (adjective)

In the clip, he can be heard fighting back laughter as he slowly zooms into the performing creature.
Sebastian’s video won an online competition for ‘What the L’ – referring to a MTA train that has battled closures – claiming a free MTA MetroCard for the year.
Online users have been amazed and horrified by the video, citing varying levels of disgust.
Instagram user Fullframed commented: ‘Times are ruff[sic] right now in nyc. Even the rats are stripping for the cheese.’
fight back (phrasal verb)
Macmillan Dictionary によると ” if you fight back an emotion, you try very hard not to show it “という風に記載されていますね。
例文：
Mary bit her lip and fought back her tears.
She fought back the tears as she watched her brother go.
closure (noun)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” the feeling that an unpleasant experience has ended or been settled “という風に記載されていますね。satisfaction と同じです。
例文：
The investigation should bring some closure to the relatives of those who have died.
Some referenced Pizza Rat which infamously dragged a slice of pizza down a whole flight of stairs.

While others referred to Remy the hopeful-chef rodent star of the 2007 animated film Ratatouille.

flight of stairs/steps (noun)
Macmillan Dictionary によると ” a set of stairs going from one level to another “という風に記載されていますね。

straight up (phrase)
Macmillan Dictionary によると ” used for emphasizing that what you are saying is true, or for asking whether something that someone else has said is really true “という風に記載されていますね。
例文：
You’re a really attractive woman, straight up!
“She’s 16! Straight up?” (= Are you telling the truth?)

Last year rat sightings rose nearly 38 percent in 2014, reaching a reported 17,353 on New York city’s 311 hotline, according to OpenTheBooks.com.
The non-profit watchdog noted the rise from 12,617 in 2014.
While the exact number of rats living in New York remains unclear, a 2014 estimate from scholar Jonathan Auerbach suggest around two million.
If the figure is accurate, it could mean that for every four of New York’s 8.3 million population, there is one rat.
