Parents FORGET newborn baby in taxi on first trip home from hospital

The couple were returning from their hospital stay with their newborn and one-year-old, when they paid the taxi driver and said goodbye – forgetting about the sleeping baby

Parents forgot to take their newborn baby from a taxi they used to bring him home from hospital for the very first time.

The German couple were returning from their hospital stay with their newborn and one-year-old.

But, after pulling up outside their Hamburg home, the couple left the car with just their eldest child – leaving their sleeping baby in the back seat.

Hamburg Police said in a Facebook post the couple paid the driver and said goodbye before realising their horrifying mistake.

The father reportedly desperately chased after the cab, but it was too late and it went out of sight.

pull up (phrasal verb)

Macmillan Dictionary によると ” if a vehicle or driver pulls up, they stop という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

Their taxi pulled up outside the church.

A car pulled up outside my house.

The boat pulled up at the dock.

I was at the gas station, and he pulled up next to me.

The driver then continued to pick up fares, with the baby sleeping soundly in the back of his vehicle.

Police reports even revealed how the driver went for lunch and parked his car in an underground car park – unknowingly leaving the newborn alone in the car.

Reports said: “Since the baby initially made no sound and probably enjoyed the sleep, the taxi driver knew nothing of his silent passenger in the back seat and headed directly to a well-deserved lunch break, for which he parked the taxi in an underground car park.

“After some time, he returned hopefully well-fed, sat in his taxi and went in the hope of new passengers to the airport.

fare (noun)

Macmillan Dictionary によると ” a passenger in a taxi という風に記載されていますね。

well-fed (adjective)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” having a lot to eat: という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

We were finally well rested and well fed.

“However, the new passenger was a bit confused about the already present infant and made the taxi driver aware of this “carpool”.

“Now was the time when the baby obviously woke up and began to scream.”

The driver immediately called police who collected the baby and arranged for a check-up from paramedics.

Thankfully, the baby was unharmed and reunited with its parents the same day.
