英字新聞を読み解く!!!Vol.342難易度★☆☆☆☆

英字新聞を読むには各単語の形式を知ることが大事!

英語を勉強し始めたばかりの段階だと、教材と違って英字新聞を読むのはかなり難しいと思います。それぞれの新聞が独自の書き方をもっていたりもするので。なので、僕が補足をつけながら、英字新聞を読むのお手伝いしようと思います。教材の文法には慣れたけど英字新聞はまだ苦手という、初級ー中級あたりの人用の解説です。

何回も言いますが、新聞を読むためには各々の単語が名詞(noun)なのか、形容詞(adjective)なのか、副詞(adverb)なのかがめちゃくちゃ大事になってきます!文法はほんっっっっっっとうに大事です!!!一緒に一つずつやっていきましょう!僕の勉強がわりにもなっているので、僕が知っていることは飛ばしていたりします。なので、何かわからないことがあれば気軽にコメントください。できるだけ答えます!よろしくお願いします 😉

To lather (verb/noun)

Macmillan dictionaryによると ” to produce a lather from soap, or to cover something or someone in lather: “ という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

I lathered and shaved quickly.

Lather your face and rinse it thoroughly.

He stood under the shower lathering himself with the soap.

Wet the hair, apply shampoo, and massage into a rich lather.

This is the adorable moment a young chimpanzee washes himself and scrubs his stomach to make more bubbles during shower time at a zoo.

Little Limbani, who was born in August 2016, was filmed lathering up at Miami Zoo in Florida and the sweet footage was shared on Instagram.

In the clip, Limbani can be seen sitting on the floor and carefully rubbing soap on his arms and patting it into his stomach.

To scrub (verb)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” to wash or clean something by rubbing it hard, especially with a brush というふうに記載されていますね。

例文:

She scrubbed the kitchen table clean.

He stood there scrubbing at his shirt with the towel.

She scrubbed (at) the mark on the wall for a long time, but it wouldn’t come off.

He scrubbed the old saucepan clean, and it looked as good as new.

To pat (verb)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” to touch someone or something gently and usually repeatedly with the hand flat: というふうに記載されていますね。

例文:

He patted my head/patted me on the head affectionately.

I bent down to pat the little puppy.

He patted the girl on the shoulder in an attempt to comfort her.

He patted me on the shoulder.

Pat the vegetables dry with a paper towel.

As he rubs his belly, more bubbles are formed and Limbani smiles as his hands become covered with the soap.

Limbani was born at a private facility in Northern Florida in 2016. His mother broke three ribs while giving birth and was unable to produce enough milk to feed baby Limbani.

The chimp caught pneumonia and needed medical attention for the first four months of his life. 

Hundreds of people on Instagram have said they adore the most recent video of Limbani having a wash.

To catch (verb)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” to get an illness, especially one caused by bacteria or a virus: というふうに記載されていますね。

例文:

He caught the flu and had to stay in bed.

Brian caught chickenpox from his nephew.

One person wrote: ‘It just makes my heart happy. So pure!’

Another said: ‘This is so cute. My heart is melting.’

This isn’t the first time that the chimp has had a taste of fame. He hit headlines in January when a video of him with a Mastiff dog, named Bruno cuddling went viral.

In April another video of Limbani enjoying a wash in the zoo’s sink also became an internet sensation.

The Zoological Wildlife Foundation in Miami has been raising awareness of wildlife conservation since 1979 and is home to many unique and rare species born in captivity.

taste (noun)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” a short experience of something that you are not used to というふうに記載されていますね。

例文:

I had a taste of office work during the summer and that was enough.

After 16 years in prison, it was their first taste of freedom.

Once you’ve tasted luxury it’s very hard to settle for anything else.
