英字新聞を読むには各単語の形式を知ることが大事！
英語を勉強し始めたばかりの段階だと、教材と違って英字新聞を読むのはかなり難しいと思います。それぞれの新聞が独自の書き方をもっていたりもするので。なので、僕が補足をつけながら、英字新聞を読むのお手伝いしようと思います。教材の文法には慣れたけど英字新聞はまだ苦手という、初級ー中級あたりの人用の解説です。
何回も言いますが、新聞を読むためには各々の単語が名詞（noun）なのか、形容詞（adjective）なのか、副詞（adverb）なのかがめちゃくちゃ大事になってきます！文法はほんっっっっっっとうに大事です！！！一緒に一つずつやっていきましょう！僕の勉強がわりにもなっているので、僕が知っていることは飛ばしていたりします。なので、何かわからないことがあれば気軽にコメントください。できるだけ答えます！よろしくお願いします 😉

bizarre (adjective)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” very strange and unusual ” と記載されていますね。

abnormality (noun)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” something abnormal, usually in the body ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
The X-rays showed some slight abnormality.
The tests show no evidence of any abnormality.
She recently set pulses racing when she shared a scantily-clad snap of herself ahead of Barbados’ annual Crop Over Festival, with some even calling the shot ‘iconic’.
ここのsomeには (people)が省略されています。
call something something で〇〇〇を〇〇〇と呼ぶです。
the shot iconicで一つの言葉としないようにしてください。
set someone’s pulse racing (verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to make someone feel excited ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
This is a movie that will set your pulse racing.
This new young actor is setting women’s pulses racing in cinemas everywhere.
scantily clad (phrase)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” wearing clothes that do not cover much of your body ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
scantily clad dancers
ahead (adverb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” in front of someone ” と” used when saying what will happen in the future ” 記載されていますね。
例文：
The car ahead of us stopped suddenly.
There will be an inspection of the track ahead of tomorrow’s race.
We have a busy day ahead of us.
I’ve got a busy week ahead of me.
Normally, I plan one or two days ahead.
iconic (adjective)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” very famous and well known, and believed to represent a particular idea “と記載されていますね。
例文：
His photographs have become iconic images of war.
John Lennon gained iconic status following his death.
But many of her fans were baffled by the image, after spotting that the music icon appears to bizarrely have two thumb nails in the sizzling snap.
The abnormality has been pointed out by a number of Rihanna’s fans after she posted the sizzling shot on Instagram on Monday.
point out (phrasal verb)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to tell someone about some information, often because you believe they do not know it or have forgotten it ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
He pointed out the best beaches on the map.

‘Two thumb nails?’ one interrogated, before another chimed: ‘Photoshop look at her thumb she has 2 nails.’
‘Why are there 2 nails in thumb girl?’ a further quizzed.
ここでのTo chimeはchime in(phrasal verb)という表現の方がいいかもしれません。
To interrogate (verb)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to ask someone a lot of questions for a long time in order to get information, sometimes using threats or violence ” という風に記載されていますね。
例文：
The suspects were interrogated by local police.
We were stopped at the border and interrogated for hours by the police.
chime in (phrasal verb)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to interrupt or speak in a conversation, usually to agree with what has been said ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
“It’s very difficult,” I said. “Impossible,” she chimed in.
Feel free to chime in if you’ve got something to add.
Everyone at the table began to chime in with their opinions.
George couldn’t resist chiming in with his ‘helpful hints’ about investments.

controversy (noun)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” a lot of disagreement or argument about something, usually because it affects or is important to many people “と記載されていますね。
例文：

To garner (verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to collect or obtain a large amount of something useful or important “と記載されていますね。
例文：
His lawyer has garnered considerable evidence in his defence.
Coppola garnered several Oscar awards for “The Godfather”.
To infuriate (verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to make someone extremely angry “と記載されていますね。
例文：
His sexist attitude infuriates me.
The referee’s calls infuriated the home team fans.

To impress (verb)

call out (phrasal verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to challenge someone over something they have said or done “と記載されていますね。
例文：
You should politely but firmly call them out on their offensive behavior.
Why he would call her out in an open forum is beyond me.
Keep your hands to yourself (phrase)
Free Dictionaryによると” Do not touch things that are not yours.; Do not touch breakable things. (Said to a child.) ” と記載されていますね。
子供に言う表現です。

poke fun at (phrasal verb)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to make someone seem stupid by making jokes about them or laughing unkindly “と記載されていますね！
make fun ofと同じ意味です。
例文：
All the kids poked fun at Dan’s new haircut.
You shouldn’t poke fun at me for my mistakes.
They are just poking fun at the strange architecture.
To reveal (verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to let something become known, for example a secret or information that was previously not known “と記載されていますね！
例文：
He was jailed for revealing secrets to the Russians.
Her biography revealed that she was not as rich as everyone thought.
To quip (verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to say something funny or clever “と記載されていますね！
例文：
‘He’ll have to go on a diet,’ Ballard quipped.

Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to control or influence something directly, or to decide what will happen “と記載されていますね！
例文：
Eye colour is genetically determined.
She claims that most human behaviour is socially determined.

To consider (verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” o have a particular opinion about someone or something “と記載されていますね！
例文：
We all considered him a hero.
He is currently considered (to be) the best British athlete.
We don’t consider her to be right for the job.
They consider it inevitable that some jobs will be lost.
