英字新聞を読むには各単語の形式を知ることが大事!

英語を勉強し始めたばかりの段階だと、教材と違って英字新聞を読むのはかなり難しいと思います。それぞれの新聞が独自の書き方をもっていたりもするので。なので、僕が補足をつけながら、英字新聞を読むのお手伝いしようと思います。教材の文法には慣れたけど英字新聞はまだ苦手という、初級ー中級あたりの人用の解説です。

何回も言いますが、新聞を読むためには各々の単語が名詞(noun)なのか、形容詞(adjective)なのか、副詞(adverb)なのかがめちゃくちゃ大事になってきます!文法はほんっっっっっっとうに大事です!!!一緒に一つずつやっていきましょう!僕の勉強がわりにもなっているので、僕が知っていることは飛ばしていたりします。なので、何かわからないことがあれば気軽にコメントください。できるだけ答えます!よろしくお願いします 😉

Today we honor those who died defending our country.

A McDonald’s in California has flipped its golden arches upside down ahead of International Women’s Day on Thursday. 

Patricia Williams, the franchisee of a Lynwood, California, McDonald’s, flipped her restaurant’s sign in order to honor women everywhere.

But her restaurant is not the only golden arch that the public will see turned from an ‘M’ to a ‘W’.

ahead of (phrase)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” extremely useful  と記載されていますね。

例文:

To commit (verb)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” to promise to do something “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

The agreement commits them to a minimum number of performances per year.

He would have to commit to spending several thousand pounds.

I do not want to commit to any particular date.

To mock (verb)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” to laugh at someone, often by copying them in a funny but unkind way: “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

They were mocking him because he kept falling off his bike.

She made fun of him by mocking his limp.

Are you trying to mock me?

‘Haven’t you finished yet?’ he mocked.

workforce (noun)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” the group of people who work in a company, industry, country, etc.: “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

The majority of factories in the region have a workforce of 50 to 100 (people).

Much of the workforce in the banking sector is/are affected by the new legislation.
