英字新聞を読むには各単語の形式を知ることが大事！
英語を勉強し始めたばかりの段階だと、教材と違って英字新聞を読むのはかなり難しいと思います。それぞれの新聞が独自の書き方をもっていたりもするので。なので、僕が補足をつけながら、英字新聞を読むのお手伝いしようと思います。教材の文法には慣れたけど英字新聞はまだ苦手という、初級ー中級あたりの人用の解説です。
何回も言いますが、新聞を読むためには各々の単語が名詞（noun）なのか、形容詞（adjective）なのか、副詞（adverb）なのかがめちゃくちゃ大事になってきます！文法はほんっっっっっっとうに大事です！！！一緒に一つずつやっていきましょう！僕の勉強がわりにもなっているので、僕が知っていることは飛ばしていたりします。なので、何かわからないことがあれば気軽にコメントください。できるだけ答えます！よろしくお願いします 😉

akin (adjective)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” similar to something ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
They speak a language akin to French.

Visitors to Tottori, a coastal area along the Sea of Japan known for its jagged coastline and caves hollowed out by waves, can glimpse schools of Japanese horse mackerel, squid and sea anemones through their kayaks while paddling off Uradome Beach in the town of Iwami, where the water is as transparent as the famously clear seas off Okinawa.
Okinawaの前にあるoffは、”surrounding”と同じ意味です。
coastal (adjective)

hollow out (phrasal verb)
Cambridge dictionaryによると” to make an empty space inside something “と記載されていますね！
例文：
Martha hollowed the book out and put her money inside.

Sand carried by the wind has hollowed out the base of the cliff.
They hollowed out a tree-trunk to make a boat.
To glimpse (verb)
Macmillan Dictionary によると” to see someone or something for a moment or not completely “と記載されていますね！
例文：
We glimpsed the ruined abbey from the windows of the train.
He glimpsed a short white-haired figure heading for the back gate.
I glimpsed her walking back from town.
school (noun)
ここでの意味は学校ではありません！Macmillan Dictionary の５番目の意味によると” a large group of fish, dolphins, whales etc “と記載されていますね！
例文：
a school of dolphins/whales
To paddle (verb)
Macmillan Dictionary によると” to move a small boat through the water using a paddle “と記載されていますね！
例文：
We paddled for several hours along the coast.
off (adverb/preposition)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” away from a place or position, esp. the present place or position ” と記載されています。
例文：
He drove off at the most incredible speed.
Keep the dog on the lead or he’ll just run off.
She is off to Canada next week.
transparent (adjective)
Cambridge Dictionary によると” If a substance or object is transparent, you can see through it very clearly “と記載されていますね。
例文：
a transparent silk scarf
Frogs’ eggs are covered in a sort of transparent jelly.
Visitors can take the 4-meter-long polycarbonate boat through the marine area, which is part of a U.N.-designated global geopark.
“ジオパークとは、地球科学的な価値を持つ遺産を保全し、教育やツーリズムに活用しながら、持続可能な開発を進める地域認定プログラムである”とのことです。
The local kayaking service is attracting growing numbers of visitors, particularly from Asia, who rave that the experience leaves them feeling as if they had been “swimming with the fish and lying on a carpet of seaweed.”
as if はまるで〇〇〇のようにという意味ですね。
To rave (verb)
Cambridge Dictionary によると“to express praise and admiration for someone or something enthusiastically ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
Everyone is raving about that new Vietnamese restaurant.
The critics are raving about her performance.
To leave (verb)
Macmillan Dictionary の７番目の意味、” to make someone feel a particular emotion or have a particular opinion ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
Kate’s sudden departure left us all wondering what was going to happen.
The transparency of the water off Uradome beach allows people to see as far down as 25 meters, matching the water off the main island of Okinawa, according to Koji Hasegawa, 55, who heads a group promoting the use of local nature spots for leisure and education.
off Uradome beachの”off”も、off the main island of Okinawaの”off”も、“surrounding”と同じ意味です。
transparency (noun)
Cambridge Dictionary によると” the characteristic of being easy to see through ” と記載されていますね。
例文：
The old-fashioned type of plastic lacked transparency.
This plastic has the transparency of glass.
To match (verb)
Macmillan Dictionaryによると“if one thing matches another, or if they match, they are the same or have similar qualities “と載っていますね。
Visitors can explore rocky areas or caves in one of five two-seat kayaks accompanied by a guide for ¥8,000.
“5つある、２人乗りのカヤックに乗って”という意味ですね。

magnificent (adjective)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” very good, beautiful, or deserving to be admired: “と載っていますね!

It was so exciting to see these magnificent animals in the wild.
She gave a magnificent performance.
The beach is part of the San’in Kaigan Geopark, which was admitted to the UNESCO-assisted Global Geoparks Network in 2010. The geopark covers coastal areas in Kyoto, Hyogo and Tottori prefectures and highlights igneous rocks, dunes and geological strata related to the formation of the Sea of Japan around 25 million years ago.
“igneous rockで火成岩” です。
“dunes”は”a hill of sand on a beach or in a desert” ですね。
To admit (verb)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to allow a person or country to join an organization “という意味も載っていますね!
例文：

To include (verb)
Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to deal with or include someone or something “と載っていますね!
例文：
The travel guide covers all the museums and historic places.
Her new book covers the period from 1870 to 1918.
The programme covers all aspects of health and safety at work.
strata (noun)
stratumの複数形になります。
Macmillan Dictionaryによると” a layer of a particular type of rock “ と載っていますね!
例文：
The cliffs are characterized by remarkable zigzagging strata of shale and sandstone.
また、そこから派生して”a group or class in society”という意味もあります。
例文：
the upper strata of society
A particular stratum of society may be politically dominant.
