英字新聞を読み解く!!!Vol.151難易度★☆☆☆☆

英字新聞を読むには各単語の形式を知ることが大事!

英語を勉強し始めたばかりの段階だと、教材と違って英字新聞を読むのはかなり難しいと思います。それぞれの新聞が独自の書き方をもっていたりもするので。なので、僕が補足をつけながら、英字新聞を読むのお手伝いしようと思います。教材の文法には慣れたけど英字新聞はまだ苦手という、初級ー中級あたりの人用の解説です。

何回も言いますが、新聞を読むためには各々の単語が名詞(noun)なのか、形容詞(adjective)なのか、副詞(adverb)なのかがめちゃくちゃ大事になってきます!文法はほんっっっっっっとうに大事です!!!一緒に一つずつやっていきましょう!僕の勉強がわりにもなっているので、僕が知っていることは飛ばしていたりします。なので、何かわからないことがあれば気軽にコメントください。できるだけ答えます!よろしくお願いします 😉

To mummify (verb)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to preserve a dead body as a mummy というふうに記載されていますね。

To embrace (verb)

Macmillan Dictionary によると” to put your arms around someone in order to show love or friendship と、” to completely accept something such as a new belief, idea, or way of life というふうに記載されていますね。

Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to bring a group of things or people together in one place for a particular purpose “ と、” to build something, for example furniture, by putting all its parts together “ というふうに記載されていますね。

natural causes

自然死のことです。

例文:

partially (adverb)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” not completely “ という風に記載されていますね。

An autopsy will be carried out but police believe the man died from natural causes in the company of the self made doll.

There were no signs of violence, said a spokesman. 

disproportionate (adjective)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると” too large or too small in comparison to something else, or not deserving its importance or influence:  と記載されていますね。

例文:

There are a disproportionate number of girls in the class.

I’ve been given a disproportionate share of the work.

The size of the fine was disproportionate to the scale of the offence.

The country’s great influence in the world is disproportionate to its relatively small size.

rug (noun)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” a small carpet that covers part of a floor “ と、 ” a cloth made of wool that you use to keep yourself warm “ という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

My dog loves lying on the rug in front of the fire.

He sat sipping his tea with a rug over his knees.

The rug we bought for the living-room has a beautiful red and gold pattern.

unscathed (adjective)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” not harmed or damaged by something bad that has happened “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

I came away from the accident unscathed, but the car got badly damaged.

Her husband died in the accident but she, amazingly, escaped unscathed.

The government has emerged from this latest crisis relatively unscathed.

autopsy (noun)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” the cutting open and examination of a dead body in order to discover the cause of death: “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

They carried out/performed an autopsy.

The body arrived for autopsy at the Dallas hospital.

company (noun)

Macmillan Dictionaryの2つ目の意味によると ” people you are with “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

Some of the jokes weren’t really suitable for mixed company.

Things started to go wrong when he got into bad company.
