英字新聞を読み解く!!!Vol.147難易度★☆☆☆☆

英字新聞を読むには各単語の形式を知ることが大事!

英語を勉強し始めたばかりの段階だと、教材と違って英字新聞を読むのはかなり難しいと思います。それぞれの新聞が独自の書き方をもっていたりもするので。なので、僕が補足をつけながら、英字新聞を読むのお手伝いしようと思います。教材の文法には慣れたけど英字新聞はまだ苦手という、初級ー中級あたりの人用の解説です。

何回も言いますが、新聞を読むためには各々の単語が名詞(noun)なのか、形容詞(adjective)なのか、副詞(adverb)なのかがめちゃくちゃ大事になってきます!文法はほんっっっっっっとうに大事です!!!一緒に一つずつやっていきましょう!僕の勉強がわりにもなっているので、僕が知っていることは飛ばしていたりします。なので、何かわからないことがあれば気軽にコメントください。できるだけ答えます!よろしくお願いします 😉

live (adverb)

Macmillan Dictionary によると” if something is broadcast live, it can be watched or listened to at the same time as it happens というふうに記載されていますね。

例文:

I’ve got two tickets to see them (perform) live.

・A player was caught with his pants down when the camera panned to the stands

・As fans celebrated leaving the league drop zone the player dropped his shorts

drop zoneとは下部リーグに落ちてしまうゾーンのことです。

・Head coach David Wagner was stood in front of him and was seemingly unaware of what was going on

To pan (verb)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると” (of a video camera) to move slowly from one side to another or up and down: “ というふうに記載されていますね。

例文:

In the first scene, the camera pans slowly across the room.

Opening scenes panned the crowded, cluttered street.

unaware (adjective)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると” not realizing that something exists or is happening “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

Tom carried on reading, seemingly unaware of my presence.

I was completely unaware of the problem.

They were unaware of the rising tide.

I was unaware that she was unhappy.

Football fans got more than they bargained for watching today’s Huddersfield match when one of the subs was caught with his pants down.

At the same time Huddersfield climbed out of the Premier League drop zone a player stood in the stands dropped his pants.

During the game aired on BT Sport the camera panned to head coach David Wagner when fans noticed the player adjusting his shorts behind.   

more than you bargained for (phrase)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” something different from what you expected, especially something worse “ という風に記載されていますね。

例文:

The babysitter found she had taken on more than she bargained for.

bargain for/on sth (phrasal verb)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると” to expect or be prepared for something:  と記載されていますね。

例文:

We hadn’t bargained on such a long wait.

The strength of opposition to the project was more than she’d bargained for.

She’s bargaining on me changing my mind.

To air (verb)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” to broadcast something on radio or television “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

Many viewers were shocked when the TV news aired graphic footage of the war.

The show was first aired in 2001.

The game will be aired live on CBS at 7.00 tonight.

The interview with the president will air tomorrow morning.

To adjust (verb)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” to change something slightly in order to make it better, more accurate, or more effective “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

She stopped to adjust the strap on her sandal.

She adjusted her skirt, took a deep breath, and walked into the room.

You don’t need to adjust the setting every time you take a photo.

Stir in the lemon juice and adjust the seasoning.

Adjust the angle of your monitor so you can easily read it.

If the chair is too high you can adjust it to suit you.

As a teacher you have to adjust your methods to suit the needs of slower children.

The full-frontal view shocked viewers who took to Twitter to express their surprise at the hilarious occurrence. 

Brother of Mark Wright and Footballer for Southend United Joshua Wright tweeted: ‘Tell me people see the player on Huddersfield’s bench with his shorts down then. The lot out.’ 

Twitter user Dinny was eager to share the news: ‘Wow! Just got an eyeful of a Huddersfield’s sub pulling his shorts down on live tv. 93.05secs. Rewind people!!! Who’s pants package was that?

Niki-Goonerette joked on the social media platform that the player was showing who’s got the deadliest tackle at Huddersfield.’

full-frontal (noun)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” showing someone’s body naked and from the front: “ と記載されていますね。

occurrence (noun)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” something that happens, especially something unexpected and unpleasant “ と記載されていますね。

例文:

Unfortunately, computer errors are a common occurrence.

Street-fights are an everyday occurrence in this area of the city.

Death was an everyday occurrence during the Civil War.

There have been several occurrences of theft in the area recently.

eager (adjective)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると ” very keen to do something or enthusiastic about something that will happen と記載されていますね。

例文:

He’s so eager to learn that he stays late every evening.

She sounded very eager to meet you.

The girls were bored and seemed eager for new experiences.

Sam was eager to get home and play with his new toy.

I’m eager to see the results.

get an eyeful (of something) (phrase)

Macmillan Dictionaryによると” to look at something surprising or shocking  と記載されていますね。

例文:

Hey, get an eyeful of this!

To rewind (verb)

Cambridge Dictionaryによると ” to make a recording go back towards the beginning: “と記載されています。

例文:

Will you rewind that scene so we can watch it again?

It is now possible to pause and rewind live television.

Fans celebrated as a goal from Steve Mounie secured a 4-1 win over Bournemouth for the team. 

However the player, who is currently unnamed, was still centre of attention despite not even being on the pitch.

To secure (verb)
